PINOT NOIR
•APPELLATION•
Corsica, France
Vins de Pays de L’Ile de Beauté
Corisca a
magical french island in the Mediterranean, an hour’s
airplane ride south of Nice and the Cote d’Azur, is also
known as L’Ile de Beauté or “Island of Beauty.” With
influences from both France, Italy and it’s fiercly
independent native population, it’s a splendidly untamed,
mountainous landscape marked by roaming herds of goats and
sheep, and dotted with breathtaking hillside vineyards. In
addition to giving birth to the Emperor Napoleon, Corsica is
heralded for artisanal cheese, extraordinary meats and
luscious wines. With a mediterranean climate, Pinot Noir
grown in Corscia more closely resembles California’s Central
Coast than it does Pinot Noir from Burgundy, despite its
French roots.
