PINOT NOIR

•APPELLATION•
 Corsica, France
Vins de Pays de L’Ile de Beauté

Corisca a magical french island in the Mediterranean, an hour’s airplane ride south of Nice and the Cote d’Azur, is also known as L’Ile de Beauté or “Island of Beauty.” With influences from both France, Italy and it’s fiercly independent native population, it’s a splendidly untamed, mountainous landscape marked by roaming herds of goats and sheep, and dotted with breathtaking hillside vineyards. In addition to giving birth to the Emperor Napoleon, Corsica is heralded for artisanal cheese, extraordinary meats and luscious wines. With a mediterranean climate, Pinot Noir grown in Corscia more closely resembles California’s Central Coast than it does Pinot Noir from Burgundy, despite its French roots.

Grape Sourcing: 100% Corscia

MARC CELLARS
2004 Reserve Pinot Noir - Corsica

Grape harvest started in August and continued through early September. After a cold soaking for up to five days, the grapes were femented in stainless steel tanks.

The wine was then aged in 100% French oak in California before bottling. Wine analysis: 0.66% total acid, 3.49% pH, 0.04%, and 13.2% alcohol, by volume Oak: 100% French medium-plus and heavy toast oak French cooperage

Varietal blend: 100% Pinot Noir

WINEMAKER’S NOTES: With an intense crimson color, the wine displays enticing aromas of red raspberry and cola, accented with barrel nuances of candied vanilla and smoke. Oak aging provides a rich texture and suppleness on the palate. The wine’s crisp acidity is matched by bright, concentrated berry fruit flavors, enhanced by a silky finish.
